Former Manchester United and Leeds United defender Rio Ferdinand spoke highly of Celtic forward Moussa Dembele on BT Sport 2 on Wednesday night (September 28, 2016).

The former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers centre-back was impressed with the performance of Dembele for Celtic against Manchester City on Wednesday evening.

The 20-year-old forward featured in the Bhoys’ Champions League Group C game against City at Celtic Park.

The France Under-20 international started the match and played for 90 minutes, as it finished in a 3-3 draw.

Dembele had a brilliant game, as he scored twice, first in the third minute and then just two minutes into the second half.

Former England international defender Ferdinand, who won the Champions League with United in 2007-08, was following the game for BT Sport, and he was impressed with what he saw of the former Fulham youngster.

“He is quite unpredictable,” said Ferdinand about Dembele on BT Sport 2 on Wednesday night (September 28, 2016) following the Champions League game between Celtic and City.

“I think that he is quite raw, but he is willing to take the chances when they come. He is not scared.

“He has got a confidence about him, he has got that raw pace that scares defenders, and he looks like he wants to be a player.”

Dembele, who joined Celtic in the summer transfer window after leaving English club Fulham at the end of last season, has been in brilliant form so far this season.

The young forward has been banging in the goals this campaign, both in the Scottish Premiership and in the Champions League.

The youngster, who scored a hat-trick in the Old Firm derby against Rangers earlier this month, has established himself as a key player for Brendan Rodgers’s side.
