Aston Villa's Charles N'Zogbia (R) in action with Newcastle's Jack Colback
Reports in France are suggesting that former Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic winger Charles N’Zogbia is set to retire from football with a heart condition.
The 30-year-old, who played two times for the French national team in 2010, was released by Aston Villa this summer after a poor five year stay at Villa Park.
Villa fans were very pleased to see him go and this summer he has been looking for a new club.
It has looked for a long time as though that would be Nantes. That deal appeared to come to a halt earlier in the week, with the winger failing a medical at the club.

Now further medical tests have confirmed he has a serious heart condition. According to 20 Minutes the heart problem will prevent N’Zogbia from continuing his playing career.
Heart problems in footballers are always concerning. The death of Marc-Vivien Foe, among many others, the collapse of Fabrice Muamba and the recent case of Patrick van Aanholt have seen the issue in the spotlight.
N’Zogbia joined Newcastle United in 2004 and left for Wigan Athletic after five years. He eventually headed to Aston Villa in 2011.
Hopefully N’Zogbia can maintain his health during what will undoubtedly be a tough time for the former Premier League star.
