Mark Warburton’s side are already playing catch up as they look to bring the Premiership title back to Ibrox for the first time in six years.

Steven Davis has written off Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title chances, in an interview with Talksport on Monday.
Despite topping the table after three matches, Mark Warburton’s side have failed to win since and currently sit seventh in the standings – seven points off the pace.

Leaders Celtic, who won the season’s first Old Firm in emphatic style, do have a game in hand however, and Davis, the Southampton midfielder, conceded the margin is already too grand.
When asked about his former club’s chances, Davis, who won three straight titles at Ibrox between 2009 and 2011, told Talksport: “I think it’s all about stability this year – try to build those foundations again.

“They’re putting together a decent squad again and hopefully next year they can make that challenge.”
Rangers were demoted to the fourth tier a year after Davis’ last title success, at which point the Northern Irishman subsequently sold to Southampton.
However, despite spending four years away from Ibrox, he also confessed to holding a strong affinity for his former side, admitting: “It’s always the first result I look out for after I come off the pitch to see how they’ve got on.”
Since their promotion as Championship winners in May, Rangers have added 11 new faces, of whom only one has previous Scottish Premiership experience.

The Light Blues face favourable opponents Patrick Thistle on Saturday, as they look to eradicate memories of a wretched September.
