Joey Barton applauds fans as he is substituted

Rangers outcast Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to insist he will not be leaving the club anytime soon.

The midfield joined the Gers in the summer transfer window, electing to leave Burnley to move to Ibrox.

His signing was hailed as a coup for the Gers after he had shone for Sean Dyche’s side during their promotion-winning campaign and been named as Championship player of the year.

Unfortunately, his move has turned into something of a disaster with him recently being suspended by the club for three weeks after an incident on the training ground.

His future at Ibrox is very much in doubt, with many believing he will not play for the club again. Barton, though, has given an unequivocal answer to questions about his future.

It remains to be seen if Barton does have a future at Rangers after this latest incident in his career.

At this moment in time it appears that he does not, with the club clearly sending him a message with this suspension.

He can be a big player for Mark Warburton’s side, though, and it will be interesting to see if the Rangers manager is willing to take the risk and welcome him back because of that in due course.
