Former Villa attacker N’Zogbia set to join French side Nantes.
Ex-Aston Villa star Charles N’Zogbia finally seems to have found a new club. According to reports from L’Equipe, French side Nantes are close to sealing a deal for the Frenchman and he is expected to join the Ligue 1 side on a one-year deal.
The left winger was rated as one of the most promising talents in the Premier League not too long ago following fine performances for Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic as a youngster.
N’Zogbia’s fine form saw him earn a big-money transfer to Aston Villa during the summer of 2011 and many felt at the time that the former French international would be able to shine at Villa Park.
As it turned out though, N’Zogbia struggled during his four seasons in the Midlands and was eventually released by the club this summer.
After his release, the 30-year-old had trained with Sunderland but he failed to convince the club to hand him a permanent contract.
Recently, reports from L’Equipe had claimed that a move back to France with Nantes was on the cards for N’Zogbia, and now in further developments it has been claimed by the same publication that the Le Havre youth team product is set to complete his move to the French Ligue 1 side.
N’Zogbia is scheduled to complete a medical with Nantes today before putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, with an option of an additional year.
There is no doubting the fact that N’Zogbia is an extremely talented player and the move to Nantes will give him an opportunity to kickstart his stalling career.
