Massimo Cellino is reportedly again keen to see Tommy Wright return to Leeds.
Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom and assistant manager Tommy Wright celebrate with the trophy after winning the Sky Bet Football League One Play-Off Final
According to The Sun, Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is keen to bring Barnsley coach Tommy Wright back to the club – whether Garry Monk wants him or not.
Leeds made it two wins in two games on Saturday afternoon as they beat Cardiff City 2-0 away from home, following up their 2-1 midweek win over Blackburn Rovers in style.

That win appears to have eased some pressure on manager Garry Monk after a slow start to the season, but reports now suggest that owner Massimo Cellino wants to make a potentially controversial decision.
The Sun report that Cellino wants to bring Barnsley assistant head coach Tommy Wright back to the club, despite the Scot only penning a new 12-month deal at Oakwell back in June, as confirmed on the Barnsley official website this past summer.

Wright, 50, started his playing career with Leeds back in the 1980’s, scoring 28 goals in 92 games before moving on to Oldham, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Bradford, St. Johnstone, Livingston and Doncaster.
Currently Paul Heckingbottom’s right-hand man at Barnsley, the Yorkshire Post claimed over the summer that Cellino was keen to appoint Wright as a No. 2 to a foreign coach, before he plumped for Monk as the club’s new manager.

Now, it’s claimed that Cellino is again keen to bring Wright back to Elland Road, and could pursue a move for him whether Monk – who already has an assistant in Pep Clotet – wants him or not.
That would be a bold move from Cellino, but given his track record at Elland Road, it wouldn’t exactly be the biggest of surprises to see him go over his manager’s head. Yet, with the input of chief executive Ben Mansford, who worked with Wright at Barnsley, Cellino may feel that Wright can add something to Monk’s setup having been such an important part of Barnsley’s promotion last season.
