Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told BBC Radio Leeds that he is not under pressure.

The Whites have made a disappointing start to the 2016-17 Championship campaign and find themselves in the relegation zone at the moment.

Monk’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Aaron Mooy’s goal in the 55th minute proved to be the difference between the two sides at Elland Road.

Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino is not renowned for his patience with managers, and results so far this campaign would suggest that Monk’s position at the club could be under threat.

The former Swansea City manager, though, has insisted that he is not under pressure.

“It’s got nothing to do with that,” Monk told BBC Radio Leeds when asked if he felt under pressure. “I am focused purely on the job. I am working as hard as I can possibly with these players. Like I said, it’s a new group, new players and it takes time to gel.

“They are trying their hardest. You can see the effort’s there but it’s just not quite clicking for them. We will continue to work and that’s my focus.

“I don’t listen to anything else. I am not here to worry what someone outside of the club has to say or what their opinion is.”

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, hosts Leeds had 42% of the possession, took four shots of which two were on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Huddersfield had 58% of the possession, took six shots of which two were on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.
