The Malaga midfielder was the subject of a summer bid from West Bromwich Albion

Sky Sports‘ Spanish expert Guillem Balague has explained why West Bromwich Albion failed to sign Ignacio Camacho during the summer transfer window.
Camacho, a midfielder with La Liga outfit Malaga, was the subject of a bid from the Baggies last month.
However, the English side were unable to do a deal, with rumoured moves for Sporting’s William Carvalho and Everton’s James McCarthy also failing to come to fruition.

And, during a Q & A session on Friday, Balague questioned West Brom’s desire to sign Camacho in the first place.
Asked if the Baggies or other clubs could return for the 26-year-old, the Revista de La Liga presenter replied: “The reason he didn’t go is because Malaga wanted £18 million and West Brom offered £15 million plus £3 million in add-ons.

“It suggests to me that if WBA really wanted the player, they would have offered £18 million up front.”
West Brom’s need for a central midfielder has seen them hand a trial to former Liverpool man Mohamed Sissoko, who is continuing to train with Tony Pulis’ team, according to the Express & Star.
The Baggies boss, who is also looking at former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh, revealed earlier on Friday that, despite his chairman’s comments on the contrary, the club failed to land a number of ‘marquee players’ identified by him during the summer transfer window.
