A week ago today Moussa Sissoko was preparing to clinch a big money transfer move away from Newcastle United.

The midfielder landed up signing with Tottenham Hotspur for a staggering £30 million fee, with the club beating Everton to the deal.

Sissoko was in action for France last night, named as a starter by Didier Deschamps for their World Cup 2018 qualifer away to Belarus.

While the match ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw for Les Bleus, Sissoko was able to get some vital game time under his belt.

He had not featured in any of Newcastle’s five Championship games this season, partly as to rest after his Euro 2016 heroics, but this only masked the fact he had no intention of playing in the division with his heart set on a transfer.

The midfielder hopes to play a part for Tottenham this weekend and even potentially in the Champions League against AS Monaco next week, and featuring for France was important in getting him back up to speed.

Sissoko played 70 minutes of the qualifier before being substituted for new Borussia Dortmund attacker Ousmane Dembele.
