According to the Daily Mail, Everton are set to offer midfielder Ross Barkley a new improved contract to ensure his long-term future is at Goodison Park.

The midfielder endured something of a frustrating season last year as he struggled for consistency under Roberto Martinez.

That saw him sit on the bench throughout England’s time at Euro 2016, while Sam Allardyce also elected to leave him out of his England squad for the World Cup qualifier with Slovakia.

While his international future is in doubt, Everton are keen to ensure his domestic future is secured with them.

According to the Daily Mail, they see him as a huge part of the club moving forward and are keen to get him signed to a new deal that rewards both his progress in recent years and his current standing in the squad.

The newspaper reports that the Toffees have already been in constant dialogue with Barkley’s advisors about the new contract.

They also claim that he will not be the only one to be offered new terms, with the club also determined to try and tie down Romelu Lukaku.
