HITC Sport understands Sheffield Wednesday set to sign Dutch defender.

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign former Fulham defender Urby Emanuelson on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Emanuelson is a free agent after leaving Hellas Verona at the end of last season following a short-term spell at the Italian club.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal is keen to add to his options at left-back after failing to land long-term target Joe Bennett in the transfer window with the Aston Villa defender ending up joining Cardiff City.
Emanuelson can not only play at left-back but also in central midfield and on the left of midfield and his versatility makes him an attractive proposition to Carvalhal after an indifferent start to the season for the Owls.

The 30-year-old is a product of the famous Ajax youth academy and he made over 170 appearances for the Dutch giants before leaving in 2011 to join AC Milan.
Emanuelson struggled to hold down a regular place in the Milan side and had a spell out on loan at Fulham in 2013, making 13 appearances and scoring one goal during his stint at Craven Cottage as the club finished in 12th spot in the Premier League.
The Netherlands international then joined Roma in the summer of 2014, but he made only two appearances for the club during an ill-fated spell at the capital club before joining Verona on a free transfer last January.
