In news that may have passed many Rangers fans by this transfer deadline day the club announced the signing of several young talents to their academy squad.

One of the players snapped up was talented Maltese wide-man Myles Beerman.

The 17-year-old, who can play at full-back or on the wing, is considered one of his country’s hottest prospects and appears a good signing for the future from Rangers.

The teenager has certainly been in the news before his Ibrox switch as well.

In May it was reported by the Manchester Evening News that Manchester City, from whom Rangers have signed Beerman, could be in line for a transfer ban for the way they recruited him from his former club Floriana in 2014.

His stock is high in his home country. He is already a part of their under-21s even at a tender age and the Malta under-21 coach Silvio Vella had this to say about the Rangers newbie to the Independent in Malta this week:

“This player has got potential and we know but he still makes part of our squad so I cannot confirm if he will start tomorrow against the Belgians. But of course definitely in my future plans.”

Rangers’ new signing could feature v the Belgium under-21s this week in what would be a great experience for the player.

For now, he is unlikely to be in the plans of Rangers boss Mark Warburton. An Ibrox first-team debut appears some way off but Beerman looks like he might be a potential Rangers first-teamer in the future.
