Aston Villa have been made 5/1 favourites to sign Leicester City’s Leonardo Ulloa, while Norwich City are right behind their Championship rivals at 11/2 with bookmakers, Sky Bet.

Ulloa scored six league goals last season as Leicester were crowned champions of England, however the Foxes’ apparent pursuit of Sporting striker Islam Slimani leaves the Argentine’s future at the King Power Stadium uncertain.

And Ulloa, who made his name on these shores at Brighton & Hove Albion, could be heading back to the Championship if current betting trends have substance.

Villa chairman Tony Xia said earlier this month his side are “working hard” to sign a “world class number 9” ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline, with Hull City’s Abel Hernandez heavily linked.

Meanwhile, Norwich, who were said to be chasing Ross McCormack before the Scot’s £12 million move to Villa Park this month, are likely to add to their forward line in the coming days.

Ulloa was linked with moves to Premier League sides Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer, with speculated transfer fees ranging from £10-15 million.

The Baggies are currently 6/1 with Sky Bet, while Swansea, who have since signed Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston, are behind both Derby County (10/1) and Stoke City (12/1) at 14s.
