Left back Chris Mavinga has taken to Twitter this evening to claim that he hasn't signed for Sheffield Wednesday yet, but is glad to hear of their interest in signing him.

Wednesday did land one left back earlier this summer with the permanent capture of former loanee Daniel Pudil, but missed out on another as Joe Bennett signed for Cardiff City.

After a mixed start to the new Championship season, manager Carlos Carvalhal may dip back into the transfer market ahead of Wednesday's transfer deadline, and another left back appears to be on his list.

One name that has come out of the blue tonight is Rubin Kazan's Chris Mavinga, who some Liverpool fans may remember having spent two years at Anfield following a move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2009.

The 25-year-old didn't make an appearance for Liverpool, moving back to France with Rennes in 2011, where his displays earned him a 2013 move to Russia with Rubin Kazan - but with just 15 appearances, he's become something of a forgotten man there.

His last two seasons have been spent out on loan with Stade Reims and most recently Troyes, but he's now back in Russia with Rubin Kazan, where he appears to have very little future.

A former France youth international who now represents DR Congo, Mavinga is a pacey left back with crossing ability, and could be a smart addition for Wednesday as they seek competition for Pudil - and tonight, Mavinga has taken to Twitter to discuss the possibility of a move to Hillsborough.

Mavinga admitted that he's glad to hear that Wednesday are interested in signing him, but he hasn't put pen to paper on a deal with the Owls just yet, and told fans to see what happens in the coming days ahead of the transfer deadline.

Would you like to see Wednesday sign Mavinga?
