The pairs departure has caused mixed feelings among the Villa faithful.
Many could not care less. Others would certainly prefer Okore to Lescott and Bennett to Cissokho.
One man who was clearly upset to see the pair go was Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner.
He sent this message to the pair on Twitter after their departures were confirmed:
Okore, who fell out with the club last season during Eric Black’s stint in charge, and Bennett have never really taken Villa by storm but both clearly had the potential to be successful in the Championship.
Gardner, himself growing into a starting role with the club after years as a nearly man, clearly appreciated what the pair did bring to the table at Villa Park.
No doubt he will be keeping tabs on their progress now they have departed.
