Sunderland manager David Moyes has admitted to the Chronicle that the Premier League will likely shock new loan signing Javier Manquillo.
Manquillo joined the Black Cats on loan earlier this week, becoming their sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
Given the state of the current squad at Sunderland, Manquillo won’t be afforded any time to settle in, and it’s likely he will be handed an immediate debut in today’s clash with Southampton.

Of course, isn’t Manquillo’s Premier League debut, with the Spaniard having spent time on loan with Liverpool in 2014/15.
But the Sunderland manager has warned that he will still likely be shocked by the physicality of the division.
“It’s a couple of weeks since he played his last game and he’ll not be used to the Premier League and what happens and the physicality,” he told the Chronicle.
“It’ll still be a shock, but he’s had a little bit of Premier League experience with Liverpool. He played all season at Marseille, so we’re not talking about somebody who has got no level of first-team football. He has got it.”

Moyes will now be hoping that Manquillo adapts quickly and proves to be a smart signing. The Black Cats are heavily reliant on all of their signings proving to be almost immediate hits this season, as they look to secure their first points of the season.
