Following a fine loan spell, Haller joined Utrecht permanently at the start of last term and he arguably proved to be one of the signings of the season.
Haller managed an impressive 24 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for Utrecht and his contribution proved to be key in helping his side claim a fine 5th placed finish in the Dutch Eredivisie.
As a result of his exploits, Haller has been able to attract the interest from a host of clubs across Europe and recently, Voetbal International had claimed that Championship outfit Newcastle United were interested in signing the 22-year-old for a fee of around £7 million.
Now Utrecht manager Erik ten Hag has gone on to speak regarding the speculation linking Haller to Newcastle and the 46-year-old has stated that a fee of £7 million is simply not enough to prize the striker away from Stadion Galgenwaard.
As quoted by Voetbal International, ten Hag stated, “I find seven million for Haller too little. Sebastien is a player for the top.”
In addition to Newcastle, the likes of Everton, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Swansea City have also been mentioned as interested parties in Haller and it will be interesting to see if the Magpies will be able to sign the Frenchman this summer even if they place an offer in excess of £7 million.
