Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Guzan disappointed as his team were eliminated from the EFL Cup at the hands of Championship side Fulham.

Guzan failed to hold onto a Scott Malone effort, and the ensuing attempts to clear the ball saw Julien se Sart rebound the ball into his own net.

The American stopper did his best to help keep Boro in the tie, but Fulham went onto score in extra time to record a 2-1 win.

Guzan signed from Aston Villa, who were relegated last season, with the American spending a mixed few years at the club.

Villa fans were quick to condemn the player they sold, pointing to the game as reason to believe they were right to let him go.

Guzan featured for Boro in their 2-1 win over Sunderland at the weekend, although will face increased competition for his place when Spanish stopper Victor Valdes returns from injury. Next up for Boro is a trip to West Brom.

Villa replaced Guzan with Italian stopper Pierluigi Gollini, who to be fair has not exactly had a great start either, conceding a game changing howler against Huddersfield Town a week ago.
