HITC Sport understands Owls want Middlesbrough pair.

Sheffield Wednesday have made fresh moves for Middlesbrough duo Jordan Rhodes and Adam Reach, HITC Sport understands.

Wednesday have already had one bid rejected for Reach, as revealed by HITC Sport, but now they are set to up their offer to £3million – which is set to be enough to land the highly-rated 23-year-old.

Left winger Reach will now be allowed to leave The Riverside after Boro signed Cardiff City full-back Fabio – as he was also providing cover for George Friend, with James Husband sidelined.

Reach impressed hugely during a loan spell at Preston last season and nearly half of the Championship had enquired about him, but now Wednesday are in pole position to land him.

The Owls are also very much back in the market for Rhodes, having showed an interest earlier in the summer. Wednesday backed away having signed Steven Fletcher but boss Carlos Carvalhal wants more options.

The South Yorkshire club have told Boro they will take Rhodes on loan and are willing to pay a hefty fee but the Premier League club would ideally like £10million for the player they signed in January – but he has failed to make the expected impact.

Wednesday are not the only Championship club interested as big spending Wolves are also looking at the situation closely, but they have been in talks with Derby County over Chris Martin – but they could very well switch their attention to Rhodes.
