Manchester have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Gabriel Barbosa, with Santos experiencing financial difficulties.

Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Brazilian sensation Gabriel Barbosa, after it has come out that the young forward’s current club Santos may have to offload players in order to balance the books.

Barbosa, who also goes by Gabigol, has been attracting some serious attention this transfer window, with Leicester, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Manchester United all having apparently enquired over the 19-year-old’s availability.

Now with Santos reportedly close to entering administration – after having failed to pay their player’s wages for the past two months – United are said to be willing to step up their interest in the young Brazilian, in order to beat their European and domestic rivals to his signature.

Inter Milan were also said to be very interested in the Santos youngster but will likely be priced out of any potential deal, after already having spent heavily this window on in-form Lazio winger Antonio Candreva.

Despite still only being 19, Barbosa has already forged a reputation for himself as one of the best players still playing domestically in his native Brazil.

Best Player Your Club Should SELL This Summer

Touted by many as the heir presumptive to Neymar’s title of Brazil’s best player, Barbosa has already scored an impressive 56 senior goals for Santos, in only 152 senior games.

Capable of playing off either wing, as well as in his preferred central role as a striker, Barbosa possesses lightning pace, and a cool head inside the box for someone as young as he is.

Gabigol has also already been capped four times at senior level by Brazil, having scored two goals against Panama and Haiti as part of a 2-0 and 7-1 win respectively.
