According to the Hull Daily Mail, Hull City are interested in signing West Bromwich Albion striker Rickie Lambert.

Lambert was on the bench for the Baggies' 1-0 opening day victory over Crystal Palace, and registered just one Premier League goal after joining the club from Liverpool last summer.

The 34-year-old has only started five of the 19 Premier League games he has appeared in and, with Salomon Rondon, who struck the winner against Palace on Saturday, and Saido Berahino above him in the pecking order, Lambert's future with the Midlands side appears in doubt.

Championship side Wolves are also said to be interested in the former England international, but whether he is open to a drop down a division remains to be seen.

Lambert has proven his worth in the Premier League over the last four years, scoring 28 goals across two seasons for Southampton before joining boyhood club Liverpool in 2014.

Since moving to Merseyside, Lambert has struggled for form, registering just three goals in the league and struggling to gain first-team football at the Hawthorns.

Despite recording a surprise 2-1 defeat of champions Leicester City, Hull are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks, and Lambert could offer a solid reinforcement as Mike Phelan's side battle to stay in the Premier League.
