Brighton & Hove Albion have rejected several loan enquiries for young defender Robert Hunt, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Highly-rated full-back Hunt has attracted the interest of a number of clubs this summer on loan as they look to bolster their defensive options.

The likes of Portsmouth, Cambridge United and Crawley Town have all made offers for Hunt on loan, but Brighton have turned down the enquiries thus far.

Hunt has yet to make his first-team debut for Brighton, but he has been a regular in the club's under-21s side.

However, he could be in line to make his debut in the upcoming Championship campaign after impressing in pre-season.

Hunt, who can play at left-back as well as right-back, has featured in all of Brighton's pre-season games so far this summer and he has caught the eye of Seagulls boss Chris Hughton.

Hughton is reluctant to let Hunt out on loan as the young defender could find himself in the first-team squad for the start of the new season after playing his way into his boss's plans.

The 21-year-old is highly-regarded at the Amex Stadium and was rewarded with a new one-year deal earlier this summer to keep him at the club until 2017.
