HITC Sport understands Boro have made contact with Hull over defender

Middlesbrough have rekindled their interest in signing Hull City’s central defender Harry Maguire, HITC Sport understands.
The 23-year-old has been a long-term target of Boro, who had a bid rejected in January and also went back for him before the loan deadline – but that deal failed to materialise.
Hull City’s Harry Maguire
Maguire joined Hull City in 2014 from Sheffield United and now has just a year left on his current deal.
The player is understood to be keen to move on after failing to become a first-team regular under Steve Bruce, despite his burgeoning reputation.

Even with Bruce’s departure from the KC Stadium – the club will consider offers for their squad after failing to make substantial cash available for this summer’s transfer market, despite their promotion back to the Premier League.
With that in mind, Boro are now back in for Maguire and are ready to offer £4million to The Tigers – but they will want a quick response.

Boro have seen one deal for a central defender fail when Borussia Dortmund’s Neven Subotic failed a medical as he needs surgery on a rib problem and now Middlesbrough feel Maguire could give them valuable cover at centre-half with question marks also remaining over the future of Daniel Ayala.
Everton, Sunderland and Burnley are also believed to be keeping tabs on Maguire, but it remains to be seen if they will rival Boro for his signature.
