Georginio Wijnaldum scores the third goal for Newcastle from the penalty spot
Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £25 million for Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to Sky Sports as well as other outlets.
HITC Sport first reported Liverpool’s interest in the Dutchman two weeks ago, and it looks as though he will be able to join the Reds for their pre-season tour of the USA.

Wijnaldum has also reportedly attracted interest from both Tottenham and Everton, while Reds boss Jürgen Klopp has seemingly been in the market for a midfielder for much of the window – having been linked with both Piotr Zielinski from Udinese and Mahmoud Dahoud of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The Liverpool Echo reported this morning that a medical could take place on the other side of the Atlantic as the Reds set out for their pre-season tour following their 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town last night, and that personal terms with the Dutchman are unlikely to be a stumbling block.
Georginio Wijnaldum celebrates after scoring the first goal for Newcastle
Wijnaldum featured as a late substitute during Newcastle’s 2-2 draw with Doncaster Rovers in what seems to be his last appearance for the club.
He will become the Reds sixth arrival this summer following Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Sadio Mane and Ragnar Klavan into the club.
Despite Newcastle’s relegation from the top flight, Wijnaldum scored 11 goals during their Premier League campaign last season from midfield, and it seems that’s one thing the Reds have been determined to address this summer.
