The Bundesliga star is reportedly a target for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Yunus Malli
FC Mainz star Yunus Malli was a guest at White Hart Lane last season, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The report claims that Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a long-term admirer of the Turkish international and could make a move for him this summer if top target Georginio Wijnaldum remains out of reach.
Newcastle United are reported to be demanding £25 million for the Dutchman’s services, nearly doubling the £14.5 million they paid for him – according to BBC Sport – last year.
Georginio Wijnaldum celebrates scoring for Newcastle
That figure seems inflated, especially considering the Magpies’ drop into the Championship and the player’s reported desire to leave, so a compromise would have to be made.
Spurs are unlikely to sanction a £25 million bid for Wijnaldum, and Malli would command a considerably smaller fee.
Yunes Malli
The 24-year old was among the Bundesliga’s star performers last season, grabbing 11 goals and four assists from midfield, and his pace and dribbling ability fit the bill in terms of what Pochettino is looking for.
Vincent Janssen scores for the Netherlands from the penalty spot
Spurs look in good shape after the arrivals of Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen and all that is left now is to add an injection of quality in the attacking third, if a suitable candidate can be found.
