Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Martin Skrtel has left the club.

The defender has officially joined Fenerbache, completing a move to the Turkish side on Thursday.

His departure brings about an end to a nine-year spell at Anfield, during which he made over 300 appearances in all competitions and won the League Cup.

However, last season saw him fall down the pecking order under current manager Jurgen Klopp. He made just 27 appearances in their 63 games across the campaign, and that was unlikely to improve next season.

Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren are ahead of him, while Joel Matip has also been added to the squad and Joe Gomez is returning from a long-term injury.

Nonetheless, some Liverpool fans are sorry to see him leave and have taken to Twitter to thank him for his service.

Skrtel joins a growing list of exits from Anfield this summer, with Klopp having been busy in his first summer transfer window at the club.

It will now be interesting to see if he looks to replace the Slovakian or believes he has enough in the current squad.
