Tottenham are reportedly set for talks with Cristian Tello's agent.
Cristian Tello at Porto
Spurs have landed one new face so far this summer with Victor Wanyama joining from Southampton, and a major factor in his move was that he was able to reunite with his former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
Now, Spurs' highly-rated manager could move for another player he's worked with before, as Tottenham are being heavily linked with a move for Barcelona's Cristian Tello.
Tello was coming up through the ranks at Espanyol whilst Pochettino was managing the La Liga side, and Pochettino even told Radio Sabadell back in 2010 that he felt Tello could make a quick rise into Espanyol's first team - but just months later, Tello joined Espanyol's city rivals Barcelona.
The winger, 24, impressed enough in Barcelona's B side to earn a first-team spot, and whilst rubbing shoulders with Lionel Messi in the Barcelona attack, Tello hit 20 goals in 86 games to even earn international recognition with Spain.
Tello did eventually fall out of favour though, and after 18 months on loan at Porto - which saw him score ten times in 57 games - he headed to Italy with Fiorentina for a short loan spell last season, notching two goals and five assists in just 15 appearances.
Now back with Barcelona, Tello looks set to leave the Camp Nou permanently, and a reunion with Pochettino could be on the cards, as Calcio Mercato report that Tello's agent Josep María Orobitg has travelled to London for talks with Tottenham.
Tello would add blistering pace and natural width to the Tottenham side - two things they lacked at times last season - whilst he's a player with considerable potential that Pochettino knows well.
With Barcelona unlikely to ask for a huge fee, this could be a gamble worth taking for Tottenham, given Pochettino's record of developing players in recent years.
