AFC Wimbledon midfielder Dean Parrett started his professional career at Tottenham Hotspur.
AFC Wimbledon midfielder Dean Parrett has told The South London Today that he learnt a lot from his time at Tottenham Hotspur.
Parrett was on the books of Tottenham from 2008 until 2013, but he failed to make a single appearance in the Premier League for the North London outfit.
During his time at Spurs, the 24-year-old had loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Swindon Town among other clubs.
The midfielder left Spurs for Stevenage in 2013, and he recently joined AFC Wimbledon after his contract with the League Two outfit ran out.
Parrett has looked back fondly on his time at Tottenham, underlining what he learnt from his time at White Hart Lane.
“My time at Spurs was good,” Barrett told The South London Today. “I wish I had played more games but I still got teachings from some highly-rated managers in the game.
“And I trained with players like Luka Modric, you watch how they train, what they do off the pitch and in the gym.
“But if I was not going to play there the best thing was to come into men’s football because U21 games don’t prepare you for the Football League.”
AFC Wimbledon will play in League One next season after gaining promotion from League Two via the playoffs at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Barrett will be looking establish himself in Neal Ardley’s starting lineup next season and and play an important role for the team.
As for Tottenham, the North London outfit will be aiming to win the Premier League title during the 2016-17 campaign.
