The rumoured Toffees target has been monitored by Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Aston Villa, among others, a report claims.
The Daily Mail reports that Everton have opened talks with Eredivisie side FC Utrecht over rumoured Premier League target Sebastien Haller.
Top flight clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Sunderland and Crystal Palace, as well as newly-relegated Aston Villa, have all been linked with Haller over the past 12 months, while Norwich City and Swansea City are said to have failed with January bids.
But a move to England could finally be on the cards after Haller reportedly turned down a ‘lucrative’ £14 million transfer to Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan in favour of a link up with Everton boss Ronald Koeman.
The 22-year-old, who began his career with French side Auxerre, scored 24 goals in all competitions last term.
At 6 ft 3 ins tall and with pace to accompany his obvious goalscoring prowess, comparisons between Haller and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku are bound to be made.
However, latest reports indicate that Haller will act as the Belgian’s teammate as opposed to his successor.
Despite investment from Iranian billionaire Farhad Moshiri, the Toffees have added only veteran goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to their ranks so far.
