According to reports from the Bristol Post, Bournemouth and Bristol City are currently involved in a head to head battle over the signing of Le Havre striker Lys Mousset.

Mousset was arguably one of the stars of the French Ligue 2 last season and his 14 goals in just 28 appearances went a long way in helping Le Havre enjoy a fine campaign.

Unfortunately though, Mousset’s goals were not enough to see Le Havre earn promotion into Ligue 1 and it is widely expected that the French side face the prospect of losing their star striker this summer, especially with a host of clubs around Europe believed to be interested in his services.

Now the Bristol Post have claimed that the English duo of Bournemouth and Bristol City are battling it out against each other in the race to sign Mousset.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe before the game

Bournemouth enjoyed a fantastic campaign in the Premier League last term and now manager Eddie Howe is looking to consolidate during the upcoming season.

Strengthening the attack seems to be one of the main priorities for Howe and Mousset is believed to be one of the players the Bournemouth boss is eyeing.

Even Bristol City are in the market to sign a new striker as a potential replacement for star man Jonathan Kodjia - who is being eyed up by Derby County and Mousset has been seen as a target for the Robins this summer.

Bournemouth clearly have the advantage over Bristol in the race to sign Mousset due to their Premier League status but the Championship side could well lure the 20-year-old to Ashton Gate with the promise of regular first team football.
