Jordan Botaka has told Voetbal International that Leeds United can challenge for promotion next season.

Leeds endured a disappointing 2015-16 campaign and failed to finish inside the top 10 of the Championship.

The Whites have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship in recent years.

Botaka, who can play as a winger or as a forward, believes that the situation will be different during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 22-year-old DR Congo international has claimed that with one or two good signings, Leeds would be able to challenge for promotion next season.

“With one or two immediate reinforcements, next season we will go all out for promotion to the Premier League - that’s where this club belongs,” Botaka told Voetbal International, as translated by Inside Futbol.

Leeds are one of the biggest clubs of England, but the current squad is not good enough to challenge for a top-six spot in the Championship.

A few good signings will certainly help, but the question is whether the Whites would be able to get the players that they need in order to become a better team.

The fans, though, should remain optimistic, as in Garry Monk, Leeds have one of the best and most talented young managers in England.
