Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Didi Hamann has backed Liverpool midfielder Emre Can to be a big asset for Germany at Euro 2016.

The 22-year-old is a part of Germany’s squad for the tournament in France after an impressive campaign with Liverpool. He stars in midfield for the Reds, and has developed hugely under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp since his arrival at the club.

He cannot break into a German midfield full of talent though, with Joachim Loew instead often using him as a full-back in his squad.

Some may see that as a negative, but Hamann insists that Can's versatility makes him a big asset to Germany at this summer’s tournament.

“If Emre does get his chance it probably will be at full-back but there are players vying for the two positions,” he told liverpoolfc.com.

“The one big asset he has is his versatility, which will be a big asset for Germany. He can play in various positions and do a very good job in each one as well.”

It will be interesting to see what role Can is asked to play for Germany at Euro 2016 this summer.

Hamann believes he is likely to feature in defence but his performances for Liverpool were worthy of a starting role to say the least.

He certainly deserves to be in there ahead of Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is in the squad despite a disappointing first year at Old Trafford.
