Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Derby County’s decision to appoint Nigel Pearson as their manager.

Pearson has been appointed the Championship club’s new manager on a three-year contract.

The Englishman had been without a managerial job since the summer of 2015 when he parted company with Leicester City.

Former Tottenham and Leicester striker Lineker has backed Derby’s decision to make Pearson their new manager.

The former England international has also made a reference to Pearson’s ostrich remarks back in April 2015.

Derby are one of the biggest clubs of England, and Pearson has been appointed in order to guide the Rams back to the Premier League.

It will not be easy given the competitive nature of the Championship, but the Derby fans should be optimistic about a successful 2016-17 campaign.
