Forest’s Robert Tesche in action with Leeds’ Lewie Coyle

Not many footballers will be back in pre-season just yet, but one Leeds United player has been showing a novel way to get back into shape for the new season this week.

Lewie Coyle has been gearing up for the new campaign early – by stepping into a boxing ring with professional lightweight boxing champion.

Luckily for the Leeds player, this boxing champion is his older brother.

Tommy Coyle is the current IBF International lightweight champion with a 22-3 boxing record from 25 bouts as a professional.

He has stepped in the ring with the likes of Olympian Luke Campbell and Australian former interim world champions Michael Katsidis – so Lewie was certainly in with a proper competitor.

Of course Tommy took it easy on the Leeds right-back. It looks like only body-blows were allowed and Lewie did look sharp in the ring.

Coyle had a breakthrough season at Leeds last term. He made his professional debut on the 27th December and went on to play 13 games for Leeds last season.

Hopefully his brother will continue keeping him sharp for next season throughout the summer.

Here’s hoping he doesn’t go breaking anything in the process!
