Nottingham Forest are believed to be interested in signing Gary Gardner from Aston Villa on a permanent transfer.

Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner has suggested that he does not yet know where his future lies for next season.

Gardner has quickly jetted off on holiday after the conclusion of this term, and he said that he was resting up to make sure he was ‘ready for whatever next season brings’.

Gardner’s future at Villa is very much up in the air at the moment, following the Midlands side’s relegation.

The central midfielder has struggled to break into the Claret and Blues’ first team since graduating from their academy system, and he has been sent of a series of loan spells in recent years.

Forest have signed Gardner on loan in both the last two seasons, and he has impressed at the City Ground.

The Reds are expected to attempt to make Gardner’s move a permanent one this summer (Nottingham Post), but it is unknown whether Villa will now want to keep hold of the 23-year-old.

Gardner has proven his class at Championship level, and he could be a valuable player for Villa as they aim to bounce straight back from relegation.

Villa fans are certainly hoping that he remains with them, as they are keen to see him get a run of games.
