Joselu launches scathing attack on Manchester City

Manchester City were widely criticised for their performance in the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Stoke City star Joselu has blasted Manchester City for their "s****y" season, comparing them to a "group of friends kicking the ball about at the school playground", after their disappointing Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Manuel Pellegrini's men swept the Potters aside with a 4-0 win last month, but the Spaniard was left thoroughly unimpressed by their performance at the Bernabeu, adding that his Stoke team-mates were similarly critical.

As reported by The Mirror, the 26-year-old said: "My team-mates were saying in the WhatsApp group that Manchester City played like a group of friends kicking the ball about at the school playground.

“Manchester City played with no attitude whatsoever and didn’t deserve to be in the Champions League semi-finals."

Yaya Toure came in for plenty of criticism during the 1-0 defeat, and was also in the firing line of Joselu, who blasted the Ivorian's work-rate and effort.

He said: “Toure was wandering on the pitch [on Wednesday night]. He should have run last night rather than against us in the league.

“He ran so much he even got injured playing against us, as opposed to last night’s performance.”

Although City have lifted the League Cup this season they face a real fight to qualify for the Champions League again, with bitter rivals Manchester United ready to pounce on any slip-ups.

Louis Van Gaal's men are four points behind with a game in hand, meaning City's home game with Arsenal on Sunday could prove pivotal in the race for the top four.

But Joselu insists City's season, their last under Pellegrini, will already be seen as a failure.

“In the Premier League, Manchester City have had, shall we say a s****y season," he added.
