Photos: Nottingham Forest loan striker Lars Veldwijk ends up having to play in goal in 5-1 thrashing

The big striker was asked to fill out the sticks.

Lars Veldwijk has so far had a memorable loan spell back in Holland with PEC Zwolle. Most of those memories have been positive and revolved around him scoring or assisting goals.

Yesterday however was completely different, as he ended up playing in goal.

The Dutch striker was in action against AZ Alkmaar for Zwolle yesterday in a game that ended up turning into a comfortable 5-1 thrashing for AZ.

Zwolle were already 3-1 down when goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart was sent off. With Zwolle having used all of their substitutes they turned to Veldwijk – who went on to concede to Dutch international Vincent Janssen twice, his third and fourth goals of the game.

It was certainly one of the more memorable games Veldiwjk has played in Holland since heading out from Nottingham Forest.

He has been in good-form in Dutch football. He has netted 13 times in 30 games and also added nine assists to his play in Dutch football to give Forest food for thought.

Veldwijk has not enjoyed his time at Forest. He scored no goals in 14 appearances for the club last season but is showing his worth with Zwolle. But he will be hoping that he is not asked to play in goal anytime soon.
