A host of Football League clubs are weighing up moves for Forest Green Rovers defender Charlie Clough, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Clough has been in outstanding form for Forest Green so far this season and his performances have been instrumental in helping the club maintain their bid for automatic promotion from the National League.

The accomplished central defender has made 35 appearances in all competitions for Forest Green this season and his superb showings of late have seen him earn a string of man-of-the-match awards as well as winning the club's player of the month prize several times.

Clough's form has not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid with Forest Green bracing themselves for interest in the talented 25-year-old this summer.

The likes of Blackpool, Fleetwood, Plymouth, Wimbledon and Portsmouth are all monitoring Clough's situation as they look to bolster their defensive options for next season.

Clough has risen through the non-league ranks since leaving Bristol Rovers in 2012 and the dominant central defender is thought to be keen on the challenge of plying his trade in the Football League
