Former Manchester United trialist appears for Sheffield Wednesday's U21s alongside Burnley youngster

The Owls' development squad suffered a 1-0 defeat on Monday.

A former Manchester United trialist was one of two unfamiliar names to feature in Sheffield Wednesday Under-21s' 1-0 defeat against Ipswich on Monday.

Former MK Dons right-back Luke Tingey, who the Mail reports spent time at United's Carrington training base in 2015, and Burnley midfielder Nathan Lowe started for the Owls at Portman Road.

Tingey was freed by the Dons last summer, but it is unclear where he's been playing since then with his name not listed on United's website under the academy profiles section.

The 19-year-old rose to prominence last year when video footage of this 40-yard free-kick against Swindon Under-18s surfaced on Youtube.

Lowe, 20, was handed a new contract at Turf Moor last summer, though it would appear he will not be kept on next season.

Wednesday have featured a number of trailists in their recent under-21 matches, notably Charlie Hayford (Tottenham Hotspur), Kevin Wright (Chelsea) and Luke Parkin (ex of Leeds United).

However, none of the above were present in Suffolk on Monday and it is unclear if any will be offered contracts at Hillsborough.
