Report: Leicester City want Vitoria Guimares goalie Miguel Silva, but Sporting Lisbon provide stumbling block

The Portuguese keeper is wanted in England but may end up with Sporting

Leicester City’s excellent season might be coming toward a potentially glorious end but it would appear they are not just getting prepared for a party. It seems the club are already starting to consider their transfer options for next season.

According to reports in Portugal one of those options is a talented goalkeeper in the form of Portuguese under-23 international Joao Miguel Silva.

The 21-year-old is currently at Vitoria Guimares and, according to a report in A Bola, is on the radar of The Foxes ahead of next season.

He has featured in 18 games for the club this season and looks like a top talent for the future.

However, there is a stumbling block to any potential move.

The report claims that Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon have the first-option rights to sign the player this summer, meaning any negotiations could become quite complicated for The Foxes.

A new keeper would be key for Leicester.

Whilst Kasper Schmeichel has been superb they have little in reserve – with veteran Mark Schwarzer and Ben Hamer not inspiring confidence in reserve.

So it will be interesting to see how Leicester get on in their pursuit of Miguel.
