Sunderland new boy Khazri has dominated Newcastle's Wijnaldum since arriving

Sunderland new boy Wahbi Khazri has outperformed Georginio Wijnaldum since arriving.

The Tyne-Wear derby this weekend could be won by a moment of magic, but two players capable of producing them are in contrasting form.

Sunderland new boy Wahbi Khazri has impressed since signing from Bordeaux in January, and has subsequently outperformed Newcastle United's summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum.

Wijnaldum is Newcastle United's top goalscorer, but the strikes have dried up since mid-January, and over the past six games - from February 1 onwards - Khazri has been the better player.

Khazri has created more goalscoring opportunities, attempted more shots, and had more overall touches in the games he has played, doing so in marginally fewer minutes than Newcastle's dynamic attacker.

The Tunisian has also been more successful in terms of his dribbling ability, as well as actually getting on the scoresheet and also providing an assist.

Pertinent questions still exist ahead of this weekend. Can Khazri produce in his biggest game since signing? Can Wijnaldum reverse his slide in form? Who does it matter to the most?

All of the above will count for very little if it is Georginio Wijnaldum who proves to be the match winner on Saturday, while if it is Khazri - you can argue it has been coming.
