Jose Anigo slams French international boss for his continued Dimitri Payet snub

Payet Skill

Payet's former boss at Marseille is livid with Didier Deschamps.

West Ham United perhaps made one of the signings of the summer when they brought in Dimitri Payet from Marseille.

The French playmaker has been in fantastic form for the club this season and would be many fans and pundit's Premier League player of the season.

Despite his exquisite form it does not look like Payet will be playing for France at the European Championships in France this summer.

The 28-year-old has 15 caps for France but their head coach Didier Deschamps has made it clear that he has no interest in calling up for the Euros.

That has angered many in France including, it seems, Jose Anigo.

He worked with Payet at Marseille. Now the Esperance de Tunis manager, who played for and managed the French club, has told France Football:

"The amazing season of Dimitri Payet does not surprise me at all. This boy has huge technical skills and English football really fits him like a glove.

"If the season Payet does not surprise me, however, I admit that the position of coach (Deschamps) that never ceases to amaze me. He is French, right?

"He would choose his matches? This is false and completely untrue.

"Although he obviously has a grudge, the coach can not continue to ignore Payet for a very long time if he continues on this pace. Currently, in this role, I do not know who else may be superior. It would even be disturbing to consider letting such a potentialstar stay at home next summer.

"Imagine Dimitri front of his TV set during the next Euro, it is unthinkable for those who see it as a blast in recent months. Yes, he has character. So what?"

Anigo mirrors the views of many West Ham fans and French football supporters. They cannot believe that Deschamps is remaining so stubborn on the West Ham player - despite his wonderful performances in the Premier League.

No matter what Payet does it seems as though the stingy Deschamps is set to leave him at home.

Hopefully it will be a decision that comes back to bite him.
