Why it is time Celtic started Ryan Christie and Scott Allan in the league

The Celtic duo deserve more time to show what they can do on the pitch.

Football managers live and die by their team selections, and in the case of Celtic manager Ronny Deila the time has come for him to be brave and pick two players who many of their fans are crying out for.

Saturday’s match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle showed a tantalising glimpse of the future at Celtic Park, with three second-half substitutes seizing their brief opportunities to impress and leaving a lasting impression on those in attendance.

Scott Allan, Ryan Christie and Patrick Roberts all came off the bench at the weekend and quickly set about proving they deserve a chance to shine.

When it comes to Roberts, it is sensible to use the loanee initially from the bench as he gets used to his surroundings and the step up. But Christie and Allan deserve to be playing from the start and that leaves Deila with a big decision.

Of course it is easy for a player to excel when their side is already 2-0 up, but the introduction of Christie and Allan saw an increased pace and urgency in Celtic’s game and on this evidence they are set to take the club by storm.

With five assists in just 15 matches, Allan has already displayed his talent, but neither he nor Christie have started in the league yet and that should change sooner rather than later…
