Charlie Nicholas has predicted a 2-2 draw when Arsenal meet Barcelona in the Champions League, via Sky Sports.

The two sides meet at the Emirates on Tuesday, with the reigning champions travelling to London for the first leg of their last 16 clash.

Not many are predicting a positive result for the Gunners, with the deadly front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar expected to run wild against the likes of Per Mertesacker.

Nicholas though, believes that the game could be closer than anticipated, predicting a 2-2 draw as he believes Arsenal know they must take a risk and go for it.

“I think Arsenal know they need to take a risk and go for it,” he told Sky Sports.

“What would be a comfortable result to take to the Camp Nou? Is 3-0 even enough to make them favourites to go through?”

“Whatever happens I will enjoy it in a strange way as Barcelona are just the best team on the planet right now and a pleasure to watch every time they walk on a football pitch.”

One man who is sure to be key to the Gunners hopes of getting a positive result will be Petr Cech.

The goalkeeper has been a major force in their positive season so far, with a series of impressive performances showing they finally having the top class goalkeeper the side has long been lacking.

And Nicholas says he is hoping that the Czech Republic keeper’ can show how important he is once again in the big games.

“Olivier Giroud has to have a right go at Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano,” he added.

“Alexis Sanchez will be up for playing his old club and it's another chance for Mesut Ozil to show he can shine among the stars.

“However, it's Petr Cech that I'm really hoping will show just how important he is.”
