The former Tottenham chairman took to social media during Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win over the north London side.

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Alan Sugar says it’s ‘quite amazing’ that Emmanuel Adebayor’s performance against his old team on Sunday would have been partly funded by the north London club.

Indeed, Adebayor turned out for Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane as the Eagles knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup fifth round, delivering quite an upset against Mauricio Pochettino’s in-form side.

And Sugar feels the fact Spurs pay some of Adebayor’s wages illustrates the ‘mad world’ of football.

A follower later pointed out to Lord Sugar that Adebayor was in the same situation when once playing for Tottenham against Manchester City.

Adebayor wasn’t necessarily influential for Crystal Palace on Sunday but the team as a whole did themselves proud.

For Tottenham, an FA Cup exit perhaps makes it easier for them to fight on two other fronts – the Europa and Premier League.

However, every team would love FA Cup glory – and Crystal Palace’s special bond with the competition continues.
