Confirmed: Everton midfielder Francisco Junior leaves the club, joins Stromsgodset on permanent deal

The Portugal under-21 international has headed to Norway.

Everton fans may be focusing on their upcoming game with Bournemouth in the FA Cup, but in the midst of all the build up they might have missed the departure of one of their midfield players.

He may not be one of the biggest of names in the Everton squad but Francisco Junior has now finally left the club permanently after numerous loan deals.

He has joined Norwegian side Stromsgodset on a two-year contract. The midfielder has spoken to the Norwegian side's official website about the move - stating:

"I am very happy to be back at the club.

"I have a good relationship with many at the club, and I'm sure this is the right place to be for my future development.

"Now I look only forward to getting started."

He is currently suffering with a groin injury and will continue his rehabilitation with Everton before joining Godset in the coming weeks.

Junior arrived at Everton from Benfica after a trial period in 2012. He spent time on loan at Vitesse, Port Vale and Wigan - where he picked up his injury. He also spent time on loan with Godset in 2014.

The 24-year-old, who has two caps and one goal for the Portugal under-21 side, only ever played once for Everton. He was subbed off at half-time of a terrible performance and eventual 1-0 defeat against Leeds United in the League Cup back in 2012.
