Gary Lineker and Stan Collymore react on Twitter to Manchester United loss

Man United were beaten by FC Midtjylland on Thursday night.

Is this really how far Manchester United have sunk?

Indeed, forget losing to Sunderland, forget getting knocked out of the Champions League group stages. United can't even beat FC Midtjylland.

That's no disrespect to the Danish side, who were good value for their win against Louis van Gaal's men.

But this is Manchester United. Are the club so well off financially that they just don't need to worry about football anymore? Surely their abject results and performances will affect the bottom line eventually?

Gary Lineker was one pundit left bewildered by just how 'poor' United have become.

Stan Collymore, meanwhile, offered a similar verdict, although he is optimistic about their chances of qualifying for the next round.

Whatever boss Van Gaal says, it looks as though he's thrown in the towel at Manchester United. However confidently he speaks, he cannot seriously want to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer if this is the best he can get out of his multi-million pound squad.
