Rochdale youngster set for first-team

HITC Sport understands that 14-year-old Daniel Adshead will snub big clubs

14-year-old Daniel Adshead is set to turn his back on some of the biggest club's in the world to stay with Rochdale, HITC Sport understands.

The Manchester-born midfielder is one of the stars of Dale's Academy and the Premier League's top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are hot on his trail.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich's British-based scouts have also been made aware of him, but Adshead and his family are in no rush to move him on from Spotland.

Indeed, Rochdale believe that he could be ready for first-team football before he is 16 - such is his maturity on the field and the fact he is already over 6ft tall points to the fact he will physically be ready also.

HITC Sport understands that Adshead will take advantage of next week's half-term school holiday to train with Rochdale's first-team - although the club have had to get special welfare permissions for him to train with them, given he is legally a child and he will have to get changed by himself due to regulations.

But Adshead is ready to stay with Rochdale and play for their first-team rather than trying his luck in an Academy set-up. Although this thinking has not put off the club's from tracking him and the League One outfit are still bracing themselves for numerous approaches.
