The Hammers will face Liverpool at the Boleyn Ground in the FA Cup fourth-round replay, and Nicholas has backed the London outfit to win it.
“West Ham should have beaten a weakened Liverpool side at Anfield and I can't see anything other than them getting the job done back at Upton Park,” the former Celtic forward wrote on Skysports.com.
A footnote added: “Charlie predicts: West Ham to win 2-0 and Enner Valencia to score first.”
However, Nicholas has asked a major question of West Ham, suggesting that Slaven Bilic’s side turn up only for the big games.
“Every time West Ham look as if they're building some momentum, they seem to disappoint,” the former Scotland international wrote on Skysports.com.
“They’ve clearly got some very good players, Dimitri Payet is fantastic and Enner Valencia is talented as well, but there are certain situations when they fail to produce. Do they simply like turning up for big games?”
West Ham have a good squad, but they have dropped points in matches that they should have won. For example, in December the Hammers drew with Swansea City and Aston Villa away from home, and last month they lost to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
However, it must be remembered that injuries have affected West Ham, but the Hammers should be able to win against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.
Playing at home will given West Ham an advantage, and the fans should be optimistic of progressing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
