Etienne Capoue says Mauricio Pochettino did not speak to him at Tottenham Hotspur

The Frenchman struggled to have a consistent impact at White Hart Lane.

When Tottenham Hotspur sold Gareth Bale for a world record fee to Real Madrid back in 2013 they invested the money back into the club, bringing in plenty of talented individuals that summer.

One such player was French international Etienne Capoue. Tottenham brought the central midfielder in from Toulouse for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £9 million.

But he was just one of many flops brought in to the club that summer. Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches and Roberto Soldado also failed to shine at Spurs and were moved on this summer - as was Capoue.

He moved to newly promoted Watford and has been shining at Vicarage Road.

Now the Frenchman has spoken about his experience with Mauricio Pochettino in the past, and discussed it again yesterday with The Express.

He states that Pochettino never spoke to him during their brief time together at White Hart Lane:

"I don't know why he changed his plans.

"Pochettino did not tell me why he did not play me. He did not speak to me.

"I worked every day for him to give me a chance. I pushed myself every day. But he didn't give me a chance. I tried to play good football. It was not enough.

"But I don't need to prove anything to anyone. Just to myself."

Spurs take on Watford tomorrow as they look to continue their push for the Premier League title - going into the game on a five game winning streak.

Whilst Capoue claims he has nothing to prove, he would surely love to throw a spanner in the works at White Hart Lane.
